It's the influence of idol pop and vocaloids - that hyperactive, hyper-fake sound. No real instruments, just synths, lots of orchestra hits, very formulaic, quite different from the heavy kayoukyoku influence of 90's anime music. Obviously, "Rondo" is a glaring exception (and breathe of fresh air). As if Buck-Tick would ever make an idol-pop sounding song! The people who requested anime songs of Buck-Tick did so because they wanted Buck-Tick's sound, and more power to them. If you've listened to Buck-Tick's anime themes you will note that none of them are up-tempo, let alone major key. Listen to GranRodeo and you will hear the difference. I'm talking about mainstream trends here, Buck-Tick have never been anything of the kind.Caycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05982217665840858486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994365939017837190.post-14822049559558153872019-12-04T04:41:43.163+09:002019-12-04T04:41:43.163+09:00"Sound-wise... well, they sound like anime so..."Sound-wise... well, they sound like anime songs, the way anime songs sound these days - hyper pumped-up positive major key, and completely interchangeable."

Beware, with Gessekai, Dress, Kagerou, Kuchizuke, Gekka Reijin and Rondo used as anime opening/endings, it might sound like your criticizing Buck-Tick ;-) timbernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994365939017837190.post-77161187476641255612019-12-02T18:50:40.415+09:002019-12-02T18:50:40.415+09:00I've been severely out of the news loop for th...I've been severely out of the news loop for the past year due to my illness, so I hadn't heard about Denki Groove. What a shame! Japan loves to put celebrities up for ritual execution for drug-related "offenses." It's such a shame, I can't wait for this ridiculous war-on-drugs era to end. Would love to hear a Denki Groove Buck-Tick cover! "Heroin" would be cool, so would "Brain Whisper Head Hate is Noise."Caycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05982217665840858486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994365939017837190.post-10953961521164019922019-12-01T06:06:41.419+09:002019-12-01T06:06:41.419+09:00I was surprised that this time there's no DJ o...I was surprised that this time there's no DJ or electronic unit doing a remix instead of a cover (as Ken Ishii and The Lowbrows did on the first two), so to fill that role on this edition I have a wickedly controversial idea: Denki Groove.

If you hadn't heard the story, Pierre Taki, one of their members, was caught with cocaine earlier this year and it turned into a shitstorm. All of Denki Groove's music was pulled from stores and streaming, their tour was cancelled, their contract was severed, and any tv show, movie, or videogame that featured Taki was cancelled or pulled from the market so his part could be replaced with someone else. Total nuclear destruction of a career overnight.

BT are no stranger to drugs and coming under scrutiny for being caught using them, and they're at least somewhat friendly with the band (since they hired Takkyu Ishino to remix a song a couple years ago), so I think it'd be a great show of solidarity to get Denki Groove to remix one of their druggier songs. Maybe "Heroin" if they wanna be really obvious about it.Lawrencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02944151552107584099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994365939017837190.post-65028033080291587882019-11-29T18:43:39.783+09:002019-11-29T18:43:39.783+09:00Oh my, I really missed these long posts and profou...Oh my, I really missed these long posts and profound explanations with a sparkle of irony! I hope you are doing better, its a joy to read you <3

I'll be honest, I got a bit excited when I saw that Der Zibet was doing Ai no Souretsu. It is one of my favorites and I believe it will sound great.

Also, you break my heart. Now I have to keep prostitution and extortion in mind to make to a live? I mean, I do it for the love of it- how could I charge? Haha I'm happy that the tickets sell, by the time I can travel to Japan I'll be lucky if BT is still active and I haven't go completely deaf (lets pray, because I don't mind going low for tickets)Onihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15014183172188491361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994365939017837190.post-14849756245651391292019-11-29T03:04:06.079+09:002019-11-29T03:04:06.079+09:00I just want to make it clear to my readers that ha...I just want to make it clear to my readers that hanging around Teranga is not a way you can ever meet the B-T members, so don't bother. No one is going to run into Imai there and they shouldn't expect to.Caycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05982217665840858486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994365939017837190.post-26708014659421537732019-11-28T17:31:48.123+09:002019-11-28T17:31:48.123+09:00Oh goodness no, we didn't go in hopes of meeti...Oh goodness no, we didn't go in hopes of meeting members, nor have I ever tried to spread rumors that it's possible at all. Whenever they come, Akane closes the place to regular customers. It's always filled with B-T fangirls hoping to "get lucky" without realizing that they never will, and that low-key air of suppressed stalker glee completely kills the vibe. If you're going to go to Teranga, go for the good food, the good wine, and the cool decor. And to meet famous B-T copybands, of course :PCaycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05982217665840858486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994365939017837190.post-65504529191619123422019-11-28T11:20:29.751+09:002019-11-28T11:20:29.751+09:00So glad to see you're back! I've been worried and checking the blog now and again, I was glad to see an update!

Quite looking forward to Der Zibet's cover, that's for sure.

As far as why SID are involved, it minimally appears that Yuya and Imai are friends. My friends and I ran into Yuya at Teranga around the time of the Locus Solas gigs and chatted with him briefly about BT. He posted pictures to his social media later that night of himself with Imai at Teranga. Sadly, it appears if we had stayed there longer, we might have run into Imai ourselves. LABnoreply@blogger.com
