Happy Birthday Maimai

Happy birthday to Imai Hisashi!

He's 49 years old, kids.

This shit is getting real!

So let's wish him good health,

Because we all know...

(by the way, this is the cute badge you get if you buy that live album)

It's not too late to order the album, nor is it too late to order Eau de Buc-Tique, as there still appear to be plenty of bottles in stock. I will also be accepting orders for tour goods from Metaform Nights and (shh) FT Only, so if you're interested, drop me a line.

But kids...you've been letting me down. If you don't comment, I'm going to assume you're not reading the posts. The comments can be as Dada-ist as you like. I don't care if they're relevant. But I don't like to feel I do all this blogging for nothing!

So let's begin with a poll question: what does Imai Hisashi mean to you? Please leave a comment below.

    1. Excellent. For extra credit, look up Ptose "Like a Mouse" on YouTube. This song was part of Imai's playlist before the Anarchy hall tour.

    1. Imai's favorite drink is and has always been a cocktail called "so much beer he fell asleep and then someone photographed him and posted it on Twitter."

  3. Dammit, I missed it! Happy Birthday Imai <3

I love him. That's it, no other Buck-Tick member - not U-ta and not even Acchan with all his cats - has made me smile as much as Imai with his idiosyncrasies. This man has an imagination like a flower garden sprouting in all directions and all kinds of weird insects inhabiting; well, there's the occasional lovebug, but it happens. And as much as I adore Sakurai's lyrics, the ones I feel closest are usually by Imai - "Cyborg Dolly", "Umbrella", "Tenshi wa Dare da", "Miss Take", "Baudelaire" <3 Finally, there just isn't a band with so many great songs, and I know who is to blame. The man is brilliant.

  4. Happy birthday to Mr Imai!

Hi Cayce, please, don't feel upset. It might be just autumn depression that makes people procrastinate comments, but more likely they've been busy scrolling up and down the Photo Montage.
Will you, please, keep on "Montageing"?)))

    1. See, this is why comments are important...they help me figure out what you enjoy so I can post more of it! If you enjoy something, by all means, let me know! I will take it into account when writing future posts :) I can't dispute that this has been a funky fall, though. Seems it's been raining for the past month in Tokyo...enough to make Acchan-chan's pants wet...

  5. Do not be afraid , I am watching you , I read what you post .
I don't have any account that's why I didn't try to comment before . I also left a comment on your previous post ( so you can be double happy ? ).

And now I will try to answer your question .

What does Hisashi Imai mean to me ?
Well , I can say he makes me laugh , I smile , I feel happy when seeing him . I mean when I see him play the guitar and dance , move his legs up and down .
He has created some many beautiful songs , he creates beautiful music and some beautiful lyrics . ( to tell the truth as for the ballands I prefer the Hoshino Hidehiko ones and as for the lyrics I prefer Sakurai Atsushi ones ) ( but all of them are good , or so I think )
Without him the band wouldn't be the same , deffinitelly .
To tell the truth without even one of the members the band wouldn't be the same .
So he is inreplaceable - like everyone else .

I wish him to have good health continoue make music for ever if possible and continue play live .
This last thing is something that I wish for all of them , I really want to be able and see them live one day ,

    - but now is still too soon for me , I just only resently became 18 years old , I want to go to Japan one day with my brother who is now 12 and I will first need to really learn how to speak with japanese people in japanese because they don't speak so good english and english is also not my language ; and I will also have to gain around 2000 to 3000 € in order to go there because there isn't flights that go directly to Japan from my country and so I will have to first travel to some other places till the airplane go to Japan . -

Sorry for the long confession but now is the first time that I try to say those things. .

I just hope that all of them will be healthy an will live for many many years while continuing playing music, and one day when I will go there I will see them .

You can say that they became a part of my life even if we live separately ( and they are also older than both my parents ).

And again sorry about all that long talk , but as I said before all of those things are said public for the first time in my life , and sorry for not staying into the right topic .

And last sorry for any bad use of the english language because I am not from an english speaking country .

    1. No need to apologize for your English! Fun fact: about a third of Blog-Tickers are not native English speakers. Generally I encourage people to keep their comments short, and send the long stories over email, but I'm happy to see people commenting again :) Learning Japanese will help you in Japan but even if you can't learn the language, you'll probably do okay if you're just here for a visit. People are pretty friendly here.

  6. Here goes a random dada-comment in Russian: Имаи Хисаши - это ответ на вечный вопрос о смысле жизни. Это же очевидно!

  7. Yep, shit is getting real. He´s soon going to be fifty, not to say "old".
Then again, Imai never really looked young and luscious anyway ^. ^. But that doesn´t matter.
    I think he´s a crazy genius, maybe a bit like Einstein ;)

    1. Watch the interviews from the Aku no Hana era, and then try to tell me Imai was never young and luscious.

Also, watch out: when you're fifty, you won't want people calling you old, either!

  8. To me, Imai Hisashi is proof that pop music doesn't just have to stick to a tried and true formula. He's a man destined for a career as an underground experimental musician who instead willed himself into being a popstar.
May he have many more years of cramming noise and weirdness into Top 40 singles ahead of him.

    1. Truer words were never spoken...until the green cheese fell from the moon! (Just kidding...if he hadn't written that song, I'd never have been able to write a parody of it so I have to thank him...)

  9. Ok I'll try to comment again think I have it sorted now! Imai is a genius. Long may he continue to entertain with his outfits and mad dances and create unbelievably brilliant music.

  10. Imai is a great example to me of aging as an active process I can contribute to, as opposed to my just sitting and letting happen. We're roughly the same age, so this is important to observe, especially since I live in a youth-obsessed place. I think, "How can I achieve mastery in something for myself?"

It takes years to achieve mastery. I respect that.
