Volume 42 of Rock & Read magazine, with a 32-page cover feature on Sakurai Atsushi, including a long interview and 13 pages of full-color photos. Also includes a bonus postcard. Other artists featured include Inoran of Luna Sea, Gara of Merry, Asagi of D, Akihide of Breakerz, Bansaku of Baroque, and others. This was one of the best selling issues of Rock & Read magazine and is very difficult to find for sale compared to the other issues. Perfect condition, out of print. 1700 yen.

Longinus DVD, first press

The first press edition DVD of Longinus, Sakurai Atsushi's one and only starring role in a dramatic (as opposed to documentary) film. It's not quite feature length but it contains quite enough vampires even so. Highlights of the film include Mr. Sakurai being unconvincingly tied to a chair with an electrical cable, a guy's head exploding, and Sakurai lying prostrate in a hospital bed and being subjected to the earnest and not-quite-convincingly smoking seduction attempts of an actress playing a gothic lolita playing a nurse.  Seriously, this is not a film you want to miss.

But, in Cayce's opinion, the best thing about this first press edition are the extras, which include the PVs for "Sacrifice" and "Taiji," a documentary on the making of the Longinus film, and a documentary on the making of Sakurai's solo album Ai no Wakusei.  The Ai no Wakusei documentary is notable for the appearances of Cube Juice and Tsuchiya Masami, and for shots of Mr. Sakurai wearing a headband.  The Longinus making-of documentary is notable for the long section in which Mr. Sakurai learns how to shoot Giant Stage Guns.  No, that's not a euphemism.

Great condition, rare and out of print.  7500 yen.
