寿記 31.01.14 B-T Teeth

.

I think some people know already, but my two front teeth on the right side have the letters "B" and "T" inlaid in them in gold.

.

I had these teeth made over 20 years ago, so I take them out about once a year.

.

For some reason, I usually end up taking them out when I'm drinking with someone

(Like when I'm drinking with Mr. Sakurai at noon at some soba place, or drinking with Kiyoshi somewhere)

I never intend to take my teeth out in a place like that,

And I'm always pissed at myself for making people laugh hysterically at me

I've never taken them out during a live show, but I don't have any desire to see the thrilled faces the fans would make if I were to do so...

.

Anyhow, though it's a big pain in the ass, recently I had to get new "B-T teeth" made.

.

First, I had to consult with the dentist about the color of the letters

And the dentist showed me samples of the possible colors I could use.

I thought maybe this time, a color other than gold would be nice...

.

I ran a simulation in my head.

If I made the letters red...people would think my mouth was bleeding.  Okay, that's out.

If I made the letters blue...people would think I had nori or something stuck on my teeth.  Nope, that possibility's gone too.

(I'm sure U-ta would turn this into a running joke and tease me mercilessly)

...hm.  Aside from gold or silver, any color I could choose would be highly likely to make it look like either blood or scraps of food.

People I'd walk past on the street and never see again would think to themselves "that guy's just walking around with chives stuck on his teeth..."

I really don't want that to be my sole impression on complete strangers, so in the end, I chose gold.

It's 20k.

.

I had the dentist bring them out so I could photograph it.

.

.

They're so reflective it was hard to photograph them, so I had the dentist turn on the examination lights...

.

.

I had them done in a retro computer font.
.

And by the way, apparently, the creator of these teeth also made tooth grills (a kind of jewelry you wear on your teeth) for a certain designer (from Gunma).

  1. I did not know that Imai had letters on his false teeth. I confess to being quite surprised to hear this snippet.

I am, however, completely unsurprised to hear that drinking sessions with either Mr Sakurai or Mr Honma result in said teeth being taken out and giggled over.

  2. I did not know Mr Imai had false teeth. Never asked myself that. But, well, the writing couldn't be any any other colour but gold, now could it? It makes perfect sense. He shines both on stage and off-stage :D

  3. It is so funny that it is difficult to believe it is true! :D

Anyway, he does not smile that much, right?

It is amazing he hasn't forgotten them somewhere! Imagine!
