Idoru, Part 2

Everyone has influences, and it's not a bad thing. Just like evolution, art builds on what came before it.

In the case of Buck-Tick, they were built on Murphy's law: Ashes to Ashes, fun to funky. As shown in the following screen captures.

Peter Murphy sexually harrasses Daniel Ash on stage

And...Sakurai Atsushi sexually harrasses Imai Hisashi on stage

Daniel Ash shows off his guitar skills while crouched down on the floor

And...Imai Hisashi shows off HIS guitar skills while crouched down on the floor!

But please don't accuse Buck-Tick of copying Bauhaus.

After all, there's Peter Murphy's thong to consider.

  1. At least he's not wearing it under white pants. And that's all I have to say about that :)

  3. Then I maybe have found someone who will agree with me on the channeling of Peter Murphy here too: http://youtu.be/1OW3ZvASapY in reference to this: http://youtu.be/ALkxcaWW6VI . It's all good..growing up, Bauhaus was one of my favorite bands, and I love the fact that BT loved them too. ^^

  4. @ Katyamena - Oh that was absolutely deliberate. Sakurai's very open about his admiration of Murphy, and you can see his influence all over Sakurai's work...the way he moves around the floor spotlights, the way he sometimes holds the mic stand horizontally behind his head like a cross, which is totally Stigmata Martyr. But it's love. I love it.

    1. @Cayce..lol..yes, I noticed the messing with the spotlight thing too. Thankfully B-T has been able to keep their egos in check all these years to be able to stay together as band, unlike Bauhaus. In doing so, I think they have surpassed the band that we all admired.
