A live report of Tour 2014 Metaform Nights (or Anarchy!) is now up over at This is NOT Greatest Site. It takes me a lot of time and effort to write articles like this, so if you enjoyed reading, please leave a comment here. I will be also be posting a short report of the Fish Tanker's Only Tour 2014 sometime soon, so stay tuned!

Dear Ms. Pollard, I am a fairly recent B-T fan and I only found your blog a few months ago - and I take enormous delight in going through the archives and reading every single thing you wrote. Your live reports have the strongest “effect of presence” ever, though - which is exactly why I can only read so many at a time: it gets way too emotional. I was reading the ones about Okinawa and On Parade 2012 just the other day, squealing in the weirdest fashion all the while. I even think I found myself pacing the ceiling at one point. (Not to mention the nasty little called “envy” :-x, which I hope you’ll forgive me since you were once a beginner concert-less fan yourself). You somehow manage to convey all of the… much-needed stuff. So, my point is… Please keep ‘em comin’! <= (your texts)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you enjoy the articles so much, and I'm always excited to hear from new fans. But, a few corrections - please note that Cayce is a genderless being (and therefore should be addressed as "san" only). Also, Cayce has the distinction of attending concerts since prior to the Cambrian Explosion.
DeleteThank you for writing such long/informative/funny live reports Cayce (I'm about to start a mini-dictionary with all the new words I have learned thanks to them), you always make me laugh with them and I can imagine everything thanks to your detailed descriptions. I hadn't comment in the Blog-Tick before because I'm always afraid I might make some stupid mistake at writing in English, but I need practice and this is the best way of doing it (practice makes perfect though).
ReplyDeleteThank you again and as always, you make me NEED to go to any of their lives; you know, not to enjoy and dance with the songs, or admire them even more because they're such pros, or to battle with Acchan-chan's fangirls to touch him (or to yell "sex" back at him whenever required)... noooo, just for science :)
Please don't worry about your spelling/grammar mistakes! A huge percentage of NGS readers are not native speakers of English. No one is going to mock you, we are all friends here. I highly recommend going to see Buck-Tick live in the hot, sweaty flesh, though. Videos alone do not do them justice.
DeleteLooks like I got the "vanilla' metaform tote. Thanks for another awesome report. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant live report again. They are the next best thing to being there. Glad you sorted out the rude staff at the venue. Also got to learn a few new things about B-T so thanks.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say the staff were rude, more like pointlessly overzealous. Out of curiosity, what did you learn about B-T?
DeleteI didn't know about Mr Sakurai's catchphrase from back in the day, I definitely would have shouted sex back at him loudly!
ReplyDeleteAlso I get the ft newsletters but struggle to read much so the information about the staging of mudai being his idea was interesting, it's such a powerful song and on the hall tour was one of the highlights for me. I usually learn something new from your reports even if it's vocabulary so thanks.
There was a H.R. Giger themed bar? In fucking Roppongi?!
ReplyDelete*Shocked*
What happened to it?
Amazing report, very accurate. Quite a joy reading this, it was like re-living the nights again, although when you got to the Sekai song part, I was really tempted to skip that part altogether. Let us hope Imai’s momentary fatherhood bliss dies here and he’ll be back to his old self for the next album.
