Gackt is sponsoring a campaign for fans to donate money to earthquake relief efforts via the Red Cross. He's lined up an impressive list of celebrities, including our very own Mr. Sakurai Atsushi, whom he no doubt has fanboyish dreams about several nights each week. Note Sakurai's conspicuously modest lack of a publicity photo. Imai is also on the list, also lacking a publicity photo.
Other notable names on the list include Gackt's band members Chachamaru and You, hide's ex band member Chirolyn, Izam from Shazna, Shinya from Dir en grey, fashion brand h. naoto, members of Nightmare, Duel Jewel, and Luna Sea, and many others.
Imai's message: "Words fail me when I try to imagine what all the victims of this disaster must be going through, but, in any case, just try to stay alive! Let's hang in there. We're strong. And all those who have lost their lives, may you find peace in the next world. Show your heart!"
Sakurai's message: "It's frightening, it's terrifying, it's miserable and sobering, and I'm sure it's making everyone feel powerless. No words we say can help to heal the victims of the disaster. But, behind the emergency broadcasts on the radio, in the bits of music that mingle with the static...I just want to be there. Be a piece of one of those songs. Maybe it sounds heartless to take no responsibility and say that this is something only time can heal, and people may be weak and overwhelmed, but at this moment, I would also like to believe that we are strong, and we are gentle. Perhaps this is all I can do at the moment, but I do it: I send you my words.

Where does it say that Gackt is a fan of Atsushi? I've always been wondering about that.

on the internet, i randonmly looked at BUCK-TICK pictures and there was one picture of Acchan kissing a guy......i swear that guy was Gackt....
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I haven't looked into whether or not Gackt is a fan of Atsushi, but most people in the music scene respect Buck-Tick enormously. Frankly, I simply find it fun to make fun of Gackt ;)

You like making fun of GACKT too?! Hehe, that makes two of us then. He's the perfect scapegoat - everything from his name to his music sets him up to be the butt of all J-Rock-related jokes. And as a matter of fact, I believe he has said that he was/is influenced by Sakurai Atsushi.

Given the number of seriously famous celebrities Show Your Heart has managed to pull together, it's not surprising that they've done so well, but it is a very good thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I would describe myself as a connoisseur of fan service, except insofar as the fanservice=lulz equation holds true, but if you look at the old videos and magazines, you can see that Sakurai and Imai were into kissing each other on stage, back when they were both young, and had red lips and very pointy hair.
i'll be on the lookout for that video!
